What to expect by event

Friday Night PreNeg and Service

PreNeg: This is a social hour! We will have small finger foods (think, veggies, fruit and cheese and crackers) and water and grape juice. This is a casual atmosphere

Service: This is our Shabbat Service. Typically it lasts about an hour or so. There will be some prayers, some singing, and a short sermon.

Saturday Morning

Family Pictures: We will be taking some immediate family pictures before the service. If you have come in from out of town and would like to hang out with us, feel free.

Final Rehearsal: We will be doing a short walk through of particular roles during the service. Again, if you'd like to join us, feel free, there's not much to see at this point.

Bar Mitzvah: The full service will last almost 2 hours. Jonas will lead the service, read from the Torah, deliver his Haftarah and reflection. The Rabbis will do some of the service with him. The sanctuary is LARGE. If you have small children who get restless, feel free to give them a busy bag we will have in the lobby before you walk in, walk with them around the sanctuary or even go upstairs and walk around in the upper gallery. This is our Jewish home and we want you to feel comfortable here.

For breastfeeding moms, there is a lounge just outside of the sanctuary before you get into the bathrooms. Dads, same for you!! And changing tables are in BOTH bathrooms.

Feel free to walk around the lobby, fountain or wherever, if your small person is not handling being seated. G-d and Jews, welcomes everyone moving or seated!

Luncheon; following service. Yummy Italian food from Jonas's favorite place!! (Parking stinks, so just take a deep breath and have my most sincere apologies now.)

Check the "Things to do" tab if you need something before the party!!

Party: We will be at Germantown Municipal Park behind the Germantown Library. We have a pavillion, grills, playground, bathrooms, and a large green space. We are grilling burgers and dogs, and will have lots of easy foods with us. I will have bubbles and various kickballs/baseballs/ etc. We will bring all the folding chairs we have and some blankets. If you have a lawn toy you love or chairs that are near and dear, feel free to bring those as well!!!
